Three Cups Chalet – Braga . Portugal

The Portuguese Architect Tiago do Vale fulfilled his cultural obligations with the restoration of a Spartan 19th century palace in Braga, Three Cups Chalet.

In addition to preserving the three-story, house’s historic high-ceilings, stonework, and stucco reliefs, the space was restored as a vertical loft-style full of natural light. At every turn, the staircase in the center of the house narrows. The nature of each floor emerges evolving from public to private as if something new and unprecedented presents itself at the top of the stairs. The restoration, faithful to its Brazilian architectural influence is heartbreakingly seductive.
